The Village has supplied each household with one recycling bin and additional bins may be purchased from Waste Management by calling 800-796-9696 or at Ace Hardware located at 8625 Woodward Ave. in Woodridge. Larger wheeled recycling toters are also available through Waste Management. There is no limit to the number of recycling bins that can be set at the curb, but crushing cans, cardboard and plastic will help save space. There is no special way to arrange recyclables in the container, but care should be taken so items do not fly or drop out. Items must be visible and cannot be placed in plastic bags which are not recyclable. Only materials on the approved recycling list will be accepted, and all items should be rinsed and free of food or any other non-recyclable material. Any non-recyclable material put in the recycling bin will be left in the container at the curb. For full details of the recycling program and the acceptable items list, refer to your Waste Management Brochure or visit the Village web site under Departments/Public Works/Refuse & Yardwaste. The more you recycle the more money you save!

# 6 Polystyrene Recycling in North Aurora
Dart Container Corporation
315 Evergreen Drive, North Aurora
(south of I-88 and west of Rt. 31)
24 hour drop off - bins are outside
Hate seeing styrofoam coffee cups going to landfills? What about your foam packaging around the new laptop you just bought? Most residential curbside recycling programs do not allow #6, so now you can recycle foam at Dart Container Corp in North Aurora. This recycling plant now has a new machine that grinds the foam into small pieces and compresses it into a 20 pound block. The recycled plastic foam is used to make sun visors, rulers, egg cartons, lumber and other products.
Be aware of the following guidelines before dropping off # 6 polystyrene:
- items must be relatively clean, so wipe clean your foam food packaging
- separate packaging foam from food-service foam - there are different bins for each
- only drop off food-service or packaging foam - no fire-retardant insulation or roofing materials
- no packaging peanuts
- to recycle foam, you must drop off to this location in Aurora -- it is not a part of your home/residential curbside services
